About Us
Epic Surf School was born in 2011 from the dream and passion of a surfer who quit his city job to share his knowledge of the art of riding waves. With over 40 years of experience and after traveling the world, he realized that surfing in Lisbon, and especially on the Costa da Caparica, has the ideal conditions for anyone to learn this sport.
Later, stemming from a childhood friendship, the team was reinforced with two friends, also long-time surfers, who began collaborating with the Epic Surf School. Over time, and naturally, the idea arose to combine their efforts and experience in the sea, joining the project without ever losing the essence that has always defined the school.
When you choose Epic Surf School, in addition to learning to surf, our students are treated like family and not just as “another one”. Lessons are taught at Riviera Beach (Costa de Caparica) where we have an area exclusively authorized for our school (40 meters wide along the shoreline). Bookings are only confirmed when sea conditions are suitable for each student’s experience level, because safety is our priority – whether a beginner or an advanced surfer, our mission is to ensure that each session is safe, progressive and unforgettable!
Epic Surf Base
Epic Surf School is open all year round at Praia da Riviera, Costa da Caparica and only a few steps away from the sea! This coastline is also known as the Portuguese Blue Coast, located just 25 minutes drive away from Lisbon. We have lockers available for your personal belongings, while you are having the surf session and there are showers for the end of the day.
After riding the waves, there is the restaurant ‘Grão D´areia’ where you can order fresh seafood dishes supplied daily by the local fishermen, such as typical clams “à bulhão pato”, the octopus salad, grilled fish with a wide range of different salads, and much more.
If you happen to be joining us for an afternoon session then please enjoy the sunset and we can have a refreshing drink.

Classes with Transport
Full Day
Prices p/person
Includes:
- transport to the beach (round trip)
- full gear (surfboard and wetsuit)
- 2 sessions of 2 hours (morning & afternoon)
- sport insurance
Meeting point options: Praça do Saldanha or Marquês de Pombal (both in the center of Lisbon)
Departure: between 8:30 and 10:00
Arrival: between 16:30 and 18:00
Note: the scheduling depends on the daily sea conditions and it will be informed based on the chosen date.
Half Day
Prices p/person
Includes:
- transport to the beach (round trip)
- full gear (surfboard and wetsuit)
- 1 session of 2 hours
- sport insurance
Meeting point options: Praça do Saldanha or Marquês de Pombal (both in the center of Lisbon)
Departure: between 9:00 and 13:00
Arrival: between 13:00 and 17:00
Note: the scheduling depends on the daily sea conditions and it will be informed based on the chosen date.
